At Firebird Delivery, we believe ordering cannabis should be easy and convenient while still remaining safe and reliable. In compliance with federal regulations, all Firebird cannabis deliveries require that the recipient present proof of age with a valid photo ID upon delivery. Thankfully, there are many acceptable forms of ID to choose from.
Valid Cannabis Delivery ID
A valid ID must be government-issued with a unique identifier number, current (not expired), and include the recipient’s name, signature, date of birth, and photograph.
- Driver’s licence (Canadian / Foreign)
- Provincial / Territorial Identification card
- Canadian Forces Identity card
- Certificate of Indian Status card
- Canadian/Foreign Passport
- Permanent Resident card
- Firearm Acquisition / Firearm Possession card
- Canadian National Institute for the Blind (CNIB) ID card
- Health card with photo (where permitted)
Not Accepted ID
Only government-issued identification will be accepted to complete a cannabis delivery. This means work or university IDs are not valid.
Note that Canadian citizenship cards are not listed above. While the cards stopped being issued in 2012, many dispensaries still accept them as a valid proof of age. And since citizenship cards issued after 1977 never expire, it is difficult to imagine delivery services declining to recognize them. That said, the absence of the card from this list does give postal carriers the right to refuse the obsolete ID, particularly if it is in poor physical condition, so a delivery person might be similarly inclined. Therefore, more current form should be used if possible.
Most adults have a valid ID to present from the list above, but it’s always a good idea to check and make sure, especially before you place your delivery order. For the smoothest delivery experience, be sure to have it at the ready when the driver arrives. Firebird lets you track your deliveriesso you’ll know right when it’s on the way
