Can I Have Weed Delivered to a Party or Event?

June 9, 2022

Canadians have more options than ever for cannabis delivery. And we’re just about at the point where ordering weed is like ordering a pizza.

But can you order cannabis somewhere other than your house?

Read on to find out about the limits of weed delivery in Canada.

Can I Get Cannabis Delivered To a Party Like a Pizza?

That depends. Legally speaking, cannabis can be delivered to any Canadian residential address. So if you’re running low at a house party, you can order it there.

Legally, anyone over the legal age for consuming cannabis in that province or territory can accept it. However, most companies require that the person who ordered is the one to receive the order, and such is the case with Firebird. Whoever made the order will have to provide a piece of government-issued photo I.D. that matches the name on the order to be able to receive cannabis.

You cannot order cannabis to a business address or a place with no address, or a P.O. box. That means you can’t order cannabis to a bar, or to an outdoor party in a park or on a beach.

But Can I Get it as Fast as Pizza?

It depends on where you live, but yes, in some places, you can get weed delivered in under an hour.

That’s way faster than the provincially-run retailers. The Ontario Cannabis Store, for example, will do same-day weed delivery, meaning that orders placed by 1:30 p.m. will get there between 5–10 p.m. For a more ideal delivery experience, you’re better off with Firebird.

Are There Any Other Limits on Cannabis Delivery in Canada?

Yes. You can only order 30 grams of dried flower (or the equivalent) at once from an online retailer.

But there’s nothing stopping you from placing multiple 30-gram orders in a short time period. There’s no limit on how much weed you can get delivered to your home in a day.

Most provinces don’t even limit how much cannabis you can have in your home. The only ones that do are British Columbia (1 kilogram), Nunavut (150 grams), and Quebec (150 grams).

Just remember that you can only possess 30 grams of cannabis — or the equivalent — in public.

According to the federal government, 30 grams of dried cannabis flower is equal to:

  • 150 grams of fresh cannabis
  • 450 grams of edible product
  • 2.1 kilograms of liquid product
  • 7.5 grams of concentrates (solid or liquid)
  • 30 cannabis plant seeds

Frequently Asked Questions

How Does Weed Delivery Work?

It works like ordering anything online — with a few restrictions.

Each provincial retailer, or licensed cannabis store, can sell up to 30 grams of weed per order. There’s no limit on the number of orders you can place, though.

After that, sit back and wait for your order to arrive. Once you place your order, you’ll receive a confirmation email and a tracking link and number to follow your order through Sparks delivery tracking.

What Kind of Places Can Get Weed Delivery in Canada?

Residential addresses. You can’t order cannabis to a bar, or to an outdoor space with no address.

How Long Does Weed Delivery Take?

It depends on the retailer. When ordering for same-day delivery from your average dispensary it can take a few hours. Only select retailers offer delivery faster than that — like Firebird, which has a one-hour option.

Can I Order Cannabis Delivery Ahead of Time or Schedule a Delivery?

Scheduled cannabis delivery options are hard to find. Most retailers will offer deliveries in 1–3 business days, on the same day, or within a number of hours.

All of our brands also offer click-and-collect services via Spark Fastlane. which will give you a time frame to pick up your cannabis at a brick-and-mortar store.
